Perth has a comprehensive network of cycle and dual-use paths in the central city, around the Swan River and Kings Park, which has has many scenic walk trails taking in the sights of the city and the Swan River including Jacob's Ladder and the Kokoda Track.
The tranquil waters and secluded bays of Rottnest Island can be easily explored on foot or bike - hire a bike and cycle around the island stopping in at your favourite bay for a dip. There are even underwater snorkel trails around the Island! Just south of Fremantle, you'll find the Coogee Maritime Trail featuring land-based and underwater attractions including the Omeo - the States premier shore-based shipwreck.
There are also great walking and cycle paths that hug the Sunset Coast, particularly along West Coast Drive. Mandurah and Peel also has a great selection of walk and bike trails, along the river and estuary, by the coast and the forests.
The picturesque scenery of the Swan Valley makes it perfect for cycling and walking - pick up maps of the many trails in the region from the Swan Valley Visitor Centre. For an afternoon country escape, head to Armadale in the foothills of Perth or the Perth Hills with more than 40 trails to choose from.
