XR:WA is a major conference and public exhibition devoted to the interrogation and showcasing of the ideas, works, technology and environment surrounding the immersive world of VR, AR, computer games and associated areas.
The event will take place from 9 - 12 July 2020 at the Perth Cultural Centre.
It's a major gathering place for those working locally, nationally and internationally in immersive and digital screen-based forms across art, entertainment, education and training, science and research and industry and enterprise.
For those working in traditional forms of the screen industry, XR:WA provides a bridge to explore new ways of storytelling, technology, networks and business structures. For the WA screen industry as a whole, XR:WA forms WA’s major consolidated professional development opportunity and one of the country’s most ambitious.
For general audiences, XR:WA provides the opportunity to explore and experience these stunning immersive experiences and technologies against a backdrop of talks, exhibitions and the makers themselves.
The main exhibition trade show floor is in the Centenary Rooms of the Art Gallery of WA and our Delegate Lounge is located in the same space in the old Perth Courthouse. We’ve got major keynotes, talks, screenings and workshops happening at the WA State Library, special installations and events at PICA and the Blue Rooms KAOS Theatre, intimate talks at The Alex Hotel and our fantastic Beer and Board games nights at Studio Startup.
For those of you who also love cinema, XR:WA runs in parallel with the Revelation Perth International Film Festival which screens more than 200 international feature films, documentaries and short films from the world over. From July 2-12, Revelation is WA's major international film festival event and regarded as one of the country’s most important independent annual screen culture events.
