Offering a glimpse into how human beings operate in extreme times, S-27 explores how far people go and who they will betray to save themselves. Audiences will be thrust into the dystopian world in which the play exists through an immersive experience that will unfold in FAC’s rooms and winding halls.
Written by award-winning UK playwright Sarah Grochala, S-27 was inspired by the history of Cambodia’s S-21 prison under the rule of the Khmer Rouge, drawing on prison records and interviews.
It follows May, a photographer who must document dissenters who have rebelled against the Organisation, an authoritarian regime. Each scene tests where her loyalties lie – with her fellow human beings, the people she once loved or the Organisation? And what if you were next?
S-27 follows the success of Feet First Collective’s acclaimed production Frankenstein: Some Assembly Required for the 2016 Fremantle Festival.
