"Experience the visionary piano music of Franz Liszt in an intimate candlelight concert in Perth’s exquisite Government House Ballroom. An evening not to be missed!"
Perth's top young pianists will present Liszt by Candlelight: a celebration of the life, works, and ideals of Franz Liszt in the exquisite surrounds of Government House Ballroom.
The concert, presented as part of the Restart the Arts with Government House initiative, takes place on Saturday 27 February, 7pm at Government House Ballroom, Perth.
Set in the warm ambiance of a candlelit Government House Ballroom, this concert is intended to appeal to everybody – from the curious music-lover to the seasoned connoisseur, as well as dreamy couples in search of a romantic evening on the town.
Liszt, the eminent nineteenth-century composer and pianist, is best known for his fiery, dramatic showpieces and virtuosic piano fireworks. Less well-known is the side of Liszt that is tender and intimate – the lyrical poet for the piano who sought to convey his innermost feelings and experiences through the language of instrumental music.
Stellar WAAPA graduates Tommy Seah, Nicholas Williams, Jordan Proctor, Izaac Masters, and Hannah Th’ng will perform a program of Liszt’s visionary music featuring favourites such as the Consolations and Liebesträume, an evocative selection from the Hungarian Rhapsodies, highlights from the Year of Pilgrimage, and more.
Guests can enjoy pre-concert drinks (available for purchase from 6pm) and interval refreshments served by fine caterers Comestibles.
