It's almost time to hop, skip and jump into Easter fun!
The holidays are just around the corner, so whether you're looking for fun things to do in Perth with your mates, your partner or the whole family, it's time to start planning a long weekend to remember. From easter egg hunts galore and an Alice in Wonderland themed Mad Hatter's Tea Party, to a funfair for the whole family, and of course, all the chocolatey goodness you can shake a fuzzy little bunny-paw at, Perth's the place to be this Easter!
A firm favourite of many an Aussie childhood, easter egg hunts are a great chance to get outdoors, explore and enjoy some healthy competition and adventure. And, ofcourse, there's the choccies - yum! There's a few Easter Egg Hunts to choose from this year, and here's a tip: if you time it right, you can actually get super festive and do them all. Pace yourselves with those chocolates, though - there's such a thing as too much of a good thing!
First up is the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Perth's Outback Splash, an outdoor entertainment attraction situated in the northern parts of the Swan Valley. This must-do family-friendly destination features waterslides and seasonal water-based attractions, as well as year-round family fun (mini golf, mazes and more). Throughout the Easter weekend, they are doing activities including an Easter Hunt Challenge, an Egg and Spoon Amazing Race, and a free raffle for all guests including a prize from Whistlers Chocolate Co Swan Valley. While you're in the area, make a day (or two!) of it with an Swan Valley adventure!
On Easter Saturday, you'll find the Easter Egg Hunt and Bonnet Parade in Gnalla Pop-up Plaza, a pop-up community space held by the City of Stirling. 'Gnalla' is the Indigenous word for 'our', and is the name of the Pop-Up Plaza that has been created under the beautiful, shady Ficus trees at Nollamara Shopping Centre, about 20 mins north of Perth City. There'll be six more family-friendly fun events coming up in April at Gnalla, so watch this space! This time around, enjoy an easter egg hunt, a visit from the ‘Bunn himself, take-home crafts, face painting and more.
Easter is all about family, and no doubt the kids will have energy to burn after a chocolate filled morning. Spend your Easter Sunday at Elmar's in the Valley and the kids can run amok in the Biergarten, jump it out on the bouncy castle and get creative at the colouring in station. And what will you be doing? Relaxing of course! Grab your fav bevvie and sit back and relax to the sounds of Ben Merito.
In the heart of Perth City just a short walk from Elizabeth Quay, you'll find a fab Easter Egg Hunt at The Island on Easter Sunday; this free ticketed event is for kids up to age 10. Parents must be present throughout the event, and you'll need to show your ticket. After you're done, why not make a day out of it? Pop into The Island for brunch, have a relaxing stroll around Elizabeth Quay and take a ferry over to the South Perth Jetty and have a play at the playground before heading to Perth Zoo. The weather forecast is mild for that day, and it's a great adventure to burn off some of that choccie energy!
And if all those egg hunts aren't enough for your Easter-loving littlies, you're in luck! Check out the whimsical Alice in Wonderland themed fun at the Mad Hatters Tea Party at Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough on April 7. A curious and curiouser time awaits in this immersive, interactive theatre experience adapted from the classic CS Lewis story that has entertained many generations of children. The Tea Party includes an hour of games, story time, an(other!) Easter Egg Hunt and a simply scrumptious tea party with children’s buffet delights. Held in the Grand Ballroom, this is a perfectly magical experience for the under-10 set. At least one adult ticket must be purchased, in order to supervise/accompany children in your booking party. Tickets are strictly limited in availability, so get in quick!
The kids can enjoy Easter crafting fun with a difference on Easter Sunday thanks to the Easter Fun Morning Cruise by Captain Cook Cruises. Cruise the calm waters between Perth and Fremantle as you enjoy the chef's selection of yummy treats that are just-perfect for young palates: hot cross buns, bacon and egg wraps and brunch pastries. There's also free-flowing tea and coffee for the grown-ups, and a fresh apple or orange juice for the kids. Kids will be rapt at their adventure on the water, as well as getting creative at the special arts and crafts station where they can do some egg painting, drawing and colouring in. There's also a photobooth and roving photographer to capture your special Easter morning, which will be finished off with a special visit from the Easter Bunny, delivering yummy Easter treats!
