Walking and cycling trails
Perth is the perfect place to go walkabout, with such diverse scenery, wildlife and plant life to encounter. Perth's top walking trails can be easily explored in one day, while others can take several days with accommodation options along the way. Some of our favourites are the lush, forested walking trails of the Perth Hills, the coastal and river walks of Mandurah and Peel, and the bushwalking trails of the Swan Valley. Or, immerse yourself in the Australian bush on horseback, and follow ancient river systems, meander through natural bushland and along heritage railways on a network of bridle trails in Perth.
For a deeper understanding of the natural and cultural significance of the land you're walking on, joining an expert-led walking trail tour can't be beat - and you might make some like-minded new friends on the way. Go Running Tours Perth offers a gorgeous 9km Sunset Coast Tour; trail tours by Off the Beaten Track include incredible nature hikes with a twist such as the Friday Night Yike (Hike and Yoga) and the Sunset Pilates Hiking Experience. Meanwhile The Hike Collective's Coastal Tours are a perfect way to refresh your body and mind - we particularly love the 3-day Samphire Rottnest Trail Retreat. The Bibbulmun Track Foundation also run a range of guided walking events on The Bibbulmun Track for all ages, experience levels and interests. And that's really only a taster of the walking trail tours on offer - check out our guide to Walking and Running in Perth for more ideas.
You'll also find plenty of top-notch cycle trails in Perth! You can hire bikes or join a cycle tour to explore the city, Swan River and surrounds. Our comprehensive network of cycle and dual-use paths in the central city and beyond means that you'll find amazing cycle trails along the Swan River, the Perth Hills, Rottnest Island, Perth Beaches, Fremantle, Swan Valley and Mandurah and Peel. Some top cycle trail tours include GoGo Active Tours, including their Matilda Bay & Kings Park Bike Loop, and Foreshore & East Perth Bike Loop, as well as Perth Hills Mountain Bike Tours with their fascinating insight on the historical Railway Heritage Trail in Perth Hills.
