Surprise your partner and organise something a little different for Valentine's Day in Perth.
We've come up with a few ideas that will make your day one to remember. Imagine skydiving onto a Rottnest beach, or touring the universe in the hands of experts, or watching a hilarious live spin on The Bachelor.
If you simply want to escape together, our guide also lists some of the best retreats and romantic restaurants in Perth. Spend the day surrounded by Swan Valley vines and wines, cruise through twilight and into the night, or turn the whole weekend into a relaxing spa retreat or Perth beach getaway.
Do Something Different this Valentine's Day
This adrenalin rush will get your loved one's heart pumping on Valentine's Day! Geronimo's experienced instructors will take you on a huge leap with breathtaking views over Rottnest Island and the Perth coastline. Jump from a helicopter for a massive rush, or take a tandem dive from a plane, landing on the beach for a celebratory drink that never tasted so good!
Book accommodation on Rottnest ahead of time so that you can relax after your adventure and enjoy a romantic getaway on Perth's holiday island.
Take your partner to cloud 9 on Valentine's Day with a Kookaburra Air scenic flight to Rottnest Island or Margaret River for lunch. The coastal colours will take your breath away, and you'll have plenty of time to indulge in some snorkelling on Rottnest or wine tasting in Margaret River.
If you really want to splash out, book a more private charter flight to either location with Swan River Seaplanes. Arrive back in time to prepare for dinner in a romantic restaurant in Perth (see below).
Star Gaze at Space Place
There's something timelessly romantic about star gazing. For the best experience of the night sky, organise a mini romantic getaway to Perth's Avon Valley, away from the ambient light of the city. At Space Place near Toodyay, astronomers will guide you through the galaxy using powerful telescopes. Learn about the constellations and then enjoy the romance of the night with your loved one. You can arrive in time to spread out with a picnic and watch the sun go down before your space tour.
Alternatively, book for the Dome Date Night at Scitech Planetarium, a late night show with drinks just for Valentine's Day.
They say laughter is an aphrodisiac, so take a look at some of the weird and wonderful events celebrating love and dating at Fringe World on Valentine's Day. Lovefool at The Black Flamingo in Yagan Square promises to be a hilarious piece of physical theatre as performer Morgan Wilson fails to find love. Or go to Famous Sharron's Love Match, a comedy show at the Sunset Verandah with Shaz the 'relationship expert'. Fairground at Ibis Perth will host Cupid's "Love This Cabaret" - a mix of entertaining performances on the subject of love with plenty of laughs. (Not) The Bachelor Live on Valentine's Day at The Laugh Resort is a comic imitation of the TV show featuring four singles hoping to make a match in one night.
As well as booking a romantic restaurant, Perth Festival has several shows to choose from that you can take in before or after dinner. Two that are sure-fire winners on Valentine's Day are Ballet at the Quarry and Swan Lake at the Heath Ledger Theatre. Before you scroll down, read on ...
Swan Lake is one of the most romantic stories of all time, but this performance comes with a warning - it's not the traditional take, but rather a deconstruction presented as an Irish folk tale with wry humour.
WA Ballet will dance at the wonderful Quarry Amphitheatre under the moonlit sky, exploring reincarnation, responding to beat-box sounds, and combining live movement with video projections - there's nothing soft about this performance! You can take a picnic to the Quarry, a more leisurely way to combine a show and dinner.
Ideas for Dinner & Romantic Restaurants in Perth
If your budget is tight, you can't go far wrong with a picnic. Make it feel more romantic by including flowers, cushions, sparkling wine - and ideally splashing water with a sunset view. Some of the best places to find a private shady spot where you can watch the sun go down are Kings Park & Botanic Garden, Yanchep National Park, Lesmurdie Falls and Freshwater Bay.

Sail away together on a Swan River evening cruise. Captain Cook's dinner cruise turns the boat into a romantic restaurant floating on Perth's calm waters. Watch the sun set while sipping on a glass of wine or a refreshing beer, to the sound of live music. A hot and cold buffet plus one drink are included in the ticket price, and there are full bar facilities on board. The twilight cruise is a simpler option with full bar facilities but without the buffet or music.
Romantic Rooftop Dining
Reach for the stars with one of Perth's romantic rooftop restaurants. A special three-course dinner has been created for Valentine's Day at Perth's famous C Restaurant on St Georges Terrace. The views are impossible to beat here, being a total 360 degrees as the restaurant gently revolves.
Wildflower rooftop restaurant at the top of Como The Treasury in Cathedral Square is a top quality experience with views across to the Swan River. Dining is either indoors or on the outdoor terrace.
On the top floor at Hibernian Place is Hadiqa - a gorgeous space serving Moroccan and Mediterranean influenced cuisine. Why not book a romantic getaway at Perth's new Westin, also in Hibernian Place (see below)?
Romantic Restaurants beyond Perth CBD
There are plenty of romantic restaurants in Perth's surrounding suburbs, such as Julio's Italian restaurant in West Perth, La Sosta in Fremantle, Fraser's in Kings Park and Bistro Felix in Subiaco, which has a special Valentine's Day three-course menu with sparkling wine on arrival.
Back to the sunsets, choose a beachfront restaurant to make sure you get an unobstructed view! Hamptons in City Beach, Indiana in Cottesloe, Bib & Tucker in North Fremantle and Bathers Beach House in Fremantle are all great options.
Two of the classiest romantic restaurants in Perth's wineries are the Wild Swan at Mandoon Estate in the Swan Valley and Millbrook Winery in Jarrahdale. Make a night of it and book into a room at The Colony at Mandoon, overlooking the vines. Millbrook is on the Serpentine River, surrounded by jarrah forest, with an award-winning restaurant.
