Bibbulmun Track, Perth Hills
Bibbulmun Track, Perth Hills

Just because it's winter doesn't mean your energy levels stop. Even though it's cold outside you still have the chance to get out and about - making sure to check the forecast beforehand and pack appropriately, of course. Get ready, because your Perth hiking expedition awaits you.

Customisable: Bibbulmun Track

You have no excuse to take a stroll down the Bibbulmun Track because chances are it’s within 80km of your home and for a Western Australian, that's not far at all. Each section of the Bibbulmun Track is unique, extending across 1000km of WA, starting in Kalamunda and ending in Albany. Choose between any level of difficultly, length and times to walk these trails as the Bibbulmum Track is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Pet Friendly: Blue Wren Ramble Trail, Armadale

This 2.8km Perth hiking trail is 40 minutes from Perth and perfect to hike from June to November. This trail is easy enough for a beginner to walk and is a great trail for your pet and/or young children. Located in Ellis Brook Valley, the Blue Wren Ramble is rich with wildflowers and not too far from the area's town centre. You will cross the Ellis Brook via bridge, and the course is mostly uphill from the carpark, but isn't too steep that little ones couldn’t walk it. Enjoy the flora and fauna at this beautiful spot for a great pet friendly walk.

Easy: Coastal Trail - Silver Sands to Madora Bay

Mandurah is home to the Coastal Trail, a Perth hiking spot with plenty of ocean views. At 11km, return, and around 3 hours of walking, the Coastal Trail is perfect for a walk or a cycle and is easy enough to bring children too. When you begin your walk at Silver Sands your end location will be McLennan Park in Madora Bay where you will be able to enjoy a picnic. McLennan Park is equipped with BBQ, toilets, picnic tables and water fountains.

Moderate: Victoria Reservoir Walk Trail, Perth Hills

Located in the Perth Hills, this Perth hiking trail is ideal to trek between May to November, taking anywhere from 2-4 hours. The path is more difficult and is best suited to more experienced hikers to make it around this historic trail. The walk takes you from the top of the valley, down into the catchment area and back up to the starting point, passing wildflowers along the way. This is the Perth hiking trail that's perfect for older kids and photographers looking for some great water shots.

Bike: Swan Valley Heritage Cycle Trail

Saddle up (on your bike) and begin this Swan Valley Heritage Cycle with a few backpacks full of water and food, because it will probably take you a good part of your day. Being only 10km one way, you might be thinking it would only take an hour, tops, to complete, but really you will take longer. And why’s that? Because you will be stopping along the way to check out local goods like fruit stalls, galleries, wineries, cafes, cheeseries, chocolatiers and plenty more. Scrap the Sunday drive and give the Sunday Swan Valley Heritage trail a go instead.

We think there's great things to do over the winter in Perth. Check out our winter offers and see if there is an event on that takes your fancy too!
