Do you feel the need for speed or perhaps you just like exploring the great outdoors? The Perth region has it covered with a wide range of activities for those seeking adventures with a difference with the earth beneath their feet (or wheels!). Or you can find a whole stack of adventure in one place at Adventure World, including the scariest rollercoaster in the southern hemisphere, Abyss!
2 wheels or 4 wheels?
Whether you prefer 2 wheels or 4, the Perth region can take you on the ride of a lifetime!
If you love the sound of a roaring Harley Davidson or V8 engine then Perth will be right up your alley. Few people experience the thrill of driving a V8 race car but in Perth’s sparkling Sunset Coast, you can do just that – in between exploring the spectacular beaches and native forest. You can even combine your need to hear motors rumbling with breathtaking scenery by taking a Harley tour down the coast or out to the Swan Valley. Definitely one for the bucket list!
Tackle the famous sand dune formations of Lancelin aboard one of the world’s largest 4WD tour coaches. Lancelin is also very popular with self-drive 4WD and motorbike enthusiasts. You can literally see sand and coast for as far as the eye can see!
Grind back the gears and head down to Fremantle – hire a scooter and explore the historic streets buzzing with markets, galleries, microbreweries and cafes. The Fremantle Visitor Centre also has free bikes available for hire.
Slow things down even further with a scenic bike ride around the Perth’s Swan River. Bikes are available for hire down on the eastern foreshore in the City.
For those seeking an active experience in a natural environment Perth delivers in spades, with a number of parks and reserves waiting to be explored only a stone’s throw from the city centre. Take Kings Park for example – it is the largest inner city park in the southern hemisphere. You can be having lunch at one of Perth’s small bars one minute and exploring the winding tracks and trail in Kings Park the next.
Only 5 kilometres to the west lies Bold Park which meets near the coast at City Beach and is home to Perth metropolitan region’s highest point, Readbold Hill, offering stunning views of the coast, city and escarpment.
A little further from the CBD and you can be tackling some of the world’s best hiking and mountain biking trails. Coupled with activities such as abseiling, rock climbing, paintball, laser games and horse (or camel!) riding there really is a stack of things to see and do in the beautiful bush surrounds of Perth.
