2012 Act-Belong-Commit Avon Descent Family Fun Days
Looking for a great way to catch all the action of the 40th Act-Belong-Commit Avon Descent white water race from Northam to Bayswater while keeping the whole family entertained?
Experience the excitement of the world's greatest white water event at the five free family fun days along the Avon and Swan Rivers in Northam, Toodyay, Guildford, Belmont and Bayswater. There are also some great vantage viewing locations along the river in the Town of Bassendean.
Held over the weekend of the race from Friday, 3 August to Sunday, 5 August 2012, the family fun days are a great way to follow the thrills and spills along with plenty of entertainment, live race commentary, and activities for all ages. The family fun days are proudly brought to you by the local governments of Bayswater, Belmont, Swan, Northam and Toodyay, and are supported by Lotterywest.

Northam River Festival

Have a fantastic night for the whole family at the starting line of the 40th Act-Belong-Commit Avon Descent! Don't miss the street parade through the centre of town with big bands, entertainment from street performers, local groups and much more.
This great family event offers plenty of entertainment including market stalls and gourmet food; roving entertainers; a live band; fire works; a side show alley and free bouncy castles and rides.

Toodyay International Food Festival

Combine the thrill of the Act-Belong-Commit Avon Descent with delicious cuisine at the 2012 Toodyay International Food Festival.
Held on the banks of the Avon River, this year's festival features the Bad Piper (as seen on Australia's Got Talent) and Matt Gresham, an inspiring young musician. Tempt your taste buds with over 25 stalls featuring mouth-watering international cuisine as well as beer and wine tasting. Participate in our Chicken Feet Eating Competition if you dare!
Kids of all ages have been catered for with bouncy castles, face painting, pony rides and the Drippy Dragon Show. Meet us at the skate park for a coaching session and be amazed by the BMX Stunt Show performed by Freestyle Now. This year's festival is not to be missed!

City of Swan Family Fun Day

With more free entertainment and things to do, this year's family fun day in the City of Swan is set to be the best yet Swan is set to be the best yet. Entertainment includes live music and dance, roving performers, pony rides, a cuddly animal farm, rowing machine competition, win a Swan Valley hamper and much more.
There will be accessible parking and toilet facilities available at the event. Located in the picturesque surroundings of Fishmarket Reserve in Guildford with seating available inside a large marquee, this is a wonderful vantage point where you can catch the boats coming by.

Viewing locations: Sandy Beach Reserve, end of West Road, Bassendean; Point Reserve, North Road, Bassendean; Pickering Park; North Road; Bassendean; and Ashfield Parade Reserve, Ashfield Parade, Ashfield.
Head down to any of the Bassendean riverside reserves for great vantage viewing points of the race. Pack a picnic or make use the barbecue facilities at Sandy Beach Reserve and Point Reserve.
