Tracks and trails
The Experience Perth region has many wonderful walking trails, guided walks, bike trails and hiking tracks all located within a short drive of the city centre. The following list is a small sample of some of the numerous walks available. However, for more information, call into one of the region's many visitor centre's where you can find maps and local recommendations or visit the Top Trails website for comprehensive information about WA's 55 Top Trails:

The following table is a list of things to wear, take and do in order to make the most of your trek's and trails experience:
What to wear
- Sunscreen and a wide brimmed hat to protect yourself against the harsh Australian sun.
- Wear layered clothes in order to peel off or put on layers during the day.
- Long socks and supported shoes for your ankles.
- Sunglasses.
What to take
- Large amounts of drinking water. It is recommended two litres per person, per day (three litres per person, per day in Summer or on longer walks).
- Maps and guides on the trail you choose to follow.
- Compass.
- Snacks to keep your energy levels up such as seeds, nuts and dried fruits.
- Medical kit.
- Camera (Perth’s tracks and trails have some amazing sights to capture).
- Waterproof jacket.
What to do
- Some tracks require that you notify the local visitor centre or rangers office before you set out on your walk.
- It is essential to let someone know exactly where you are going and when you intend on returning.
- Always keep your water close by.
- Never drink untreated water from a lake, river or stream. If you do, make sure you boil it first.
- Dispose of your waste properly, take a rubbish bag with you.
- Don't take shortcuts you may find yourself lost.
- Don't pick native flowers or plants.
- Observe wildlife but make sure you do it from a suitable distance (never feed wildlife).
- Leave your pets at home.
