Herdsman Lake Regional Park
The park is located six kilometres north-west of Perth City and is only a 10 minutes drive.
Herdsman Lake wetland provides a wildlife sanctuary for many species of waterbird to breed and to ensure there is permanent open water during the long hot summers a moat has been dredged encircling the 300-hectare lake.
The park has many walking and cycling tracks, playground facilities, grassed parklands and a wildlife viewing centre. You can also visit an original settler's cottage giving you a glimpse of basic accommodation for the rural settlers. The park has picnic areas and you can view the birds from four timber boardwalks or the two birdhides.
Herdsman Lake Regional Park is a great place to visit all year round.
