Marmion Marine Park

Marmion Marine Park lies off the coast of Perth's northern suburbs between Trigg Island and Burns Beach just 30 kilometres away, an approximate 30 minutes drive.

Marmion Marine Park was the state's first marine park, declared in May 1987. Seabirds, marine mammals and an array of diverse marine life find the clear shallow lagoons, reefs and small islands the perfect habitat. There are several reefs for diving, however Boyinaboat Reef is the most popular due to its accessibility, just 75 metres from the sea wall of Hillarys Boat Harbour. The large variety of sealife make this reef a divers dream. The reef is home to western blue devils, banded sweep, horseshoe leatherjackets and dusky morwong to name a few. The shipwreck 'Centaur', wrecked here in 1874 adds to the parks allure for divers.

The bottlenose dolphin and the Australian Sea Lion are common marine mammals in the park and are regularly seen by snorkellers. Humpback whales also swim past the park during their migration, usually September thru to November. Seabirds are also found in the park and can be best seen at Little Island, Burns Rocks, the Trigg Island area and Hillarys Boat Harbour.

You can go boating, surfing, windsurfing and swimming. Spearfishing is prohibited within 1800 metres of the shore and for divers using under water breathing equipment. There are sanctuary zones in the park please check these before fishing in the park.
