Art Gallery of Western Australia
Offers interactive booklets and tick sheets for children to work through as they travel around the galleries. The Gallery also run free Family Fun Days with music, theatre, storytelling and more.
Fremantle History Museum
Is part of the Museum of Western Australia and is housed in the old lunatic asylum. The museum has permanent exhibits such as 'Foundations of Fremantle'; 'A New Australia' and 'Within these Walls'. There are also community exhibitions which change regularly.
Fremantle Prison
Was opened in 1850 and operated as a prison until 1991. It now is an historical landmark in the state’s history. Tours are available to experience how the prison operated. If you are brave enough, take the night tour or the new tunnel tour some 20 metres below ground.
Museum of Western Australia
The Western Australian Museum was established in 1891 (as the ‘Perth Museum’) and its initial collections were of geological, ethnological and biological specimens. The museum is now responsible for the botanical, anthropological, archaeological, maritime archaeological and social and cultural history collections. The collections, currently number more than two and a half million specimens/artefacts.
Some of the permanent exhibitions are; WA Land and People, Diamonds to Dinosaurs, Mammal Gallery, Bird Gallery, Butterfly Gallery and The Old Gaol.
His Majesty's Theatre
Opened in 1904 and since then has enthralled West Australians' and visitors alike with drama, comedy and show stopping musicals. His Majesty's has lunchtime concerts, morning melodies and exhibitions. There is also the Cabaret venue 'Downstairs at the Maj'. Majkidz offers interactive workshops for children who have a keen interest in the performing arts.
The Perth Mint
Is Australia's oldest operating mint. Opened in 1899 it refines nearly 60% of Australia's yearly gold production. Wander around, take the tour and watch the 'gold pouring' demonstration, view the International Gold Bar Exhibition or take in some High Tea.
Kulcha Multicultural Arts of Western Australia
Was established in 1983. Kulcha have a weekly music program, concerts, cultural events, festivals and operate a skills based workshop.
