Greg Nannup of the Nannup Family Trust has launched the Kings Park Indigenous Heritage Tour which invites visitors to find out about the Indigenous heritage and history of Kings Park and Botanic Gardens.
Before European settlement, Perth's Noongar people used the park's lofty heights for weddings and celebrations, just as it is used by modern West Australians, as well as for burials, dances and hunting.
The Kings Park Indigenous Heritage Tour is an enjoyable and fun way to be informed about the original West Australians who used and loved Kings Park for tens of thousands of years. Hear the oldest Dreamtime story in the world, experience traditional implements, tools and weapons. Learn about bush medicines and bush tucker, discover the importance of the Swan River to the local Wadjuk people and understand the strength of connections between Indigenous people and the land.
The tour duration is 1.5 hours. The tours start daily at 1.30pm from the front lawn of Aspects of Kings Park, opposite the State War Memorial on Fraser Ave.
It is for locals as well as tourists, but bookings are essential.
