Beverley

The wheatbelt town of Beverley is 130 kilometres east of Perth on the Avon River. Founded in 1838, Beverley is one of Western Australia's oldest settlements.

Today Beverley is a quiet agricultural town with a proud history - for visitors it's a chance to experience life in a classic country town. Stroll down the main street and admire the variety of architectural styles. Go for a flight in a glider or try out the golf course and take the kids to explore Avondale Discovery Farm. And then enjoy a coffee or a beer and a good country meal!

There's a wide range of attractions to see in Beverley. You can find out about the history of aviation in Western Australia at the Aeronautical Museum, or explore the working farm and historic homestead at Avondale Discovery Farm. Step into the old Railway Station Gallery to see the art collection and learn about the early days of settlement at the Dead Finish Museum.

Picnic on the banks of the Avon River, or trace the headwaters of the river at the nearby salt lakes of Yenyenning, admire the antique and vintage machinery at Ferguson's Machinery Shed and take a walk along Vincent Street to delight in the fascinating architecture of this classic country town.

Make a date to visit Beverley for one of the an (nual events - the Art Show at Easter, the Clydesdale and Vintage Day at Avondale in June followed by the Beverley Agricultural Show in August, and Avondale's Harvest Festival in November.

There's plenty of sporting activities in Beverley - you can fly in a glider, play golf, tennis or bowls, try out the motocross track, swim in the pool in summer or bring your kyak to paddle the Avon River in winter.
