Avon Valley National Park

Avon Valley National Park is 80 kilometres north-east of Perth via the Toodyay Road and takes approx one hour from Perth by car.

The Park is known for a wide variety of birds, wildlife and spectacular scenery across the Avon Valley. The Avon River which flows through the Avon Valley National Park, brings constant change to the park. In winter, the fast running water of the Avon brings canoeists from around the world to compete in the Avon Descent held annually in August. In summer the river dries off and becomes a series of shallow pools.

In springtime during the wildflower season, you will find blue lechenaultias, dryandras and donkey orchids flowering in the Park.

With limited development the Park has maintained its wilderness qualities. However, there are some picnic facilities and basic camping sites available. Please notify the ranger if you intend to walk off the marked tracks or camp outside the camping grounds.

You can go bush walking, canoeing, picnicking in the park and the best time to visit is Autumn and Spring.
