Boddington

Retreat to the tranquillity of nature with a visit to Boddington. This delightful township is perched on the banks of the picturesque Hotham River and is surrounded by a patchwork of undulating hills, majestic forest and rolling farm land.

It is just an hour and a half drive from Perth via the Albany Highway and links conveniently with Dwellingup, Pinjarra and North Dandalup for a most attractive one-day scenic drive.

The Boddington township itself is blessed with a delightful mix of old-fashioned country charm and farming and mining prosperity. From the township you can set out on a two kilometre walk trail along the Hotham River’s velvety green banks. There is even wheelchair access between the caravan park and Randford Pool, a favourite fishing, bird watching and picnic place.

Lions Weir offers another favoured picnic and fishing location – drop a line here in autumn or spring for redfin perch or try your hand at catching marron in summer.

Or set out further afield into the Boddington Shire. The shire’s rolling hills are home to acre upon acre of State forest. Here you can hike among the towering trees, camp in designated facilities, picnic at one with the beauty of nature, spend time bird watching and admire kaleidoscopes of spring wildflowers.

Time your visit for Boddington’s annual rodeo on the first Saturday in November. This wild and heady affair offers spectacular viewing entertainment and is renowned as being the richest in the state.

You’ll also find plenty of accommodation options on offer in Boddington, from farm stays set amid the nature-rich landscape to charming bed and breakfast accommodation and a caravan park on the banks of the Hotham River.
