The City of Perth is home to two major sporting venues - The Western Australian Cricket Association ( WACA ) Ground and Gloucester Park.

The WACA Ground in East Perth was opened in 1893 and over the years has hosted many state and national cricket tests as well as a variety of other sports including aviation demonstrations, football and night trotting. It has seen countless celebrations, particularly when the Western Australian cricket team has won the prestigious Sheffield Shied competition.

In recent years, the WACA Ground has welcomed large crowds to open air concerts. The WACA museum holds a fascinating range of cricket memorabilia and exhibits and tours of the ground are available to the general public.

Located by the Swan River in East Perth, Gloucester Park Raceway is the home of horse trotting in Western Australia. Gloucester Park has established a reputation as Australia's premier harness racing venue, with popular race meetings on Friday nights.

Other sporting sites in the city include the historic Perth and Tattersals Bowling Club in East Perth, the Royal Kings Park Tennis Club, the Perth Dinghy Sailing Club and the West Australian Rowing Club.

West of the city you can also find Subiaco Oval. The Subiaco Oval, is the venue for both Australian rules football games and international rugby contests.
