The Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia

The Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia (RASWA) is a member-based not-for-profit apolitical organisation based in Perth. RASWA's role is to promote the significance of rural WA and the state's primary industries.

Working to help 'bridge the gap' between city and country WA, the Society's activities are focused on showcasing the many and varied achievements of rural WA. Since the founding of the Society in 1831, RASWA has successfully encouraged and assisted the development of WA resources - including agricultural, horticultural, viticultural, industrial, rural, technological, commercial and mineral resources.

RASWA offers education scholarships for secondary and tertiary student studying agriculture and an agricultural education programmes for primary schools and also providing facilities at Claremont Showgrounds for community and industry use.

RASWA is also responsible for the organisation and management of Western Australia's largest annual community event the Perth Royal Show.

The Perth Royal Show is a show for the people, displaying the excellence the state has to offer across a range of industries. With competitions ranging from cattle to cookery, wine to wood chopping, the Perth Royal Show is the highlight of the WA year with rides, attractions, food, fireworks and showbags available during the week long celebration. All of the major attractions are free; the Perth Royal Show has 400 entertainers, 300 performances and nearly 100 hours of entertainment every day.
